Pear and Berry Crumble

Crumble is a great dish to make if you have some over ripe fruit. You could use banana, stone fruit, pear, apple or any sort of berry. So easy to make, I've been eating this for breakfast with a little bit of milk and yoghurt on my morning commute. It also makes a great dessert to share with family and friends.

Pear and Berry Crumble

Serves 3-4

  • 2 medium pears or 3 small pears, diced

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 60g butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup self raising flour

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 2 tbs shredded coconut

  1. In a small pan add pear, berries, water and cinnamon. Stew over medium heat for 20 minutes until pear is soft and most of the liquid has evaporated

  2. While that is cooking, melt butter in a small bowl and add remaining ingredients. Mix to coat the oats

  3. Pour fruit mixture into a small baking dish and top with crumble

  4. Bake in oven at 180°c for 10 minutes until the top is golden brown

  5. Serve with yoghurt, custard or icecream
