Cacao Overnight Oats

Cacao Overnight Oats

Overnight oats are my breakfast staple! I eat them at least 5-6 times a week. Not everyone likes cereal in the morning, but I find that oats keep me feeling full for hours due to their fibre content and combined with protein in the milk, yoghurt and nuts it is a balanced breakfast option.

I recommend preparing your oats the night before in a jar (I usually use an old peanut butter jar) or container so that it is ready to go the next morning. I often take mine to eat after my morning gym workout, or on my way to work. The perfect take-away breakfast if you commute.

Cacao Overnight Oats

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp cacao powder

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup Greek yoghurt (I like the creaminess of Greek yoghurt but you can use any)

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 2 tsp chia seeds

  • 2 tsp honey (or maple syrup)

  • 1/2 cup milk

Toppings:

  • 1 banana

  • 2 tsp peanut butter

  • 1 tbs chopped walnuts

Method

  1. In your container of choice add yoghurt and mix in cacao and cinnamon (tip- don't add the milk now otherwise the cacao won't mix in)

  2. Add rolled oats, chia seeds & honey. Mix to combine

  3. Add milk and slowly combine with other ingredients

  4. Leave for 2 hours or overnight

  5. In the morning add toppings to serve

Tip: you can add toppings at step 3 if you want to save time in the morning
