Chocolate Hazelnut Scrolls

These scrolls are so easy to make with just three ingredients to make the dough... yoghurt (yep you read that right), flour and maple syrup. These make a great snack and one to flag for using up that extra Easter chocolate (if you have any). These can be made savoury too by omitting the maple syrup and adding herbs and other ingredients as filling instead of chocolate like cheese, ham and sundried tomato.

Chocolate Hazelnut Scrolls

Makes 4

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Greek yoghurt

  • 2/3 cup self raising flour, plus extra for dusting

  • 1 tbs maple syrup

  • 30g milk or dark chocolate, melted

  • 2 tbs chocolate spread (e.g. Nutella or cacao nut butter)

  • 2 tbs chopped hazelnuts

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celsius

  2. In a small mixing bowl add the yoghurt, flour and syrup and mix with a wooden spoon until mostly combined.

  3. Tip onto a lightly dusted surface and knead using hands until it forms into a soft ball of dough (you will need to keep adding small amounts of flour so that it doesn't stick). The dough should be soft, but will not stick to your hands

  4. Flour the surface again and using a rolling pin, roll into a rectangle base

  5. Gently spread the chocolate spread and melted chocolate onto the base

  6. Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts

  7. Roll the dough from the shorter edge

  8. Slice into 4 pieces

  9. Place the scrolls upright in a small baking dish

  10. Cook for 10 minutes until the dough is golden in colour
