Choc Orange Oat Bars
May, 2019
I was never a fan of the chocolate and orange combination (I hated Jaffas growing up). But then a few weeks ago I tried a chocolate and orange flapjack and it was so good I knew that I had to create my own recipe! These are so easy to make and are a great snack for work or school. They can keep in the fridge for 1-2 weeks (or in the freezer for longer).
Choc Orange Oat Bars
Makes 8 bars
Ingredients
-
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
-
1/2 cup wholemeal self-raising flour
-
1/4 cup cacao powder
-
2 tsp honey
-
1/4 cup sunflower oil
-
1 egg
-
2 tsp orange zest
-
1/4 cup orange juice (1/2 orange)
-
50g dark chocolate
Method
-
Pre-heat oven to 180°c
-
Add all ingredients except the dark chocolate in a bowl and mix to combine until the oats are coated
-
Pour into a loaf pan lined with baking paper. Press down to even the mixture
-
Bake for 15 minutes then set aside to cool
-
Melt chocolate and drizzle over the loaf (tip: I melt the chocolate in a bowl and then transfer to a square of cling wrap. Twist to close and then at the bottom pierce a very small hole with the tip of a knife and voila, you have a piping bag!)
-
Slice into 8 bars
